A Multi-Party Claim is a claim for compensation by a group of people who have suffered the same or similar injuries due to the negligence of the same defendant.
A Multi-Party Claim is also sometimes referred to as a 'Group Claim' or a 'Class Action'.
Normally, a Multi-Party Personal Injury Claim will result from one of two incidents.
The first would be a sudden disaster where a lot of people are injured or killed at the same time such a plane crash or an accident involving a bus or coach.
The second would be a defective product, drug or treatment which injured a significant number of people over a period of time. This type of Multi-Party Claim could include people injured by a batch of faulty chairs sold for public use for example and could also include people all given negligent treatment by the same medical professional (clinical negligence).

In some cases, the Court may set a deadline for all injured parties to come forward with their claim and the group of personal injury compensation claims are dealt with at the same time as a Multi Party Action.
It is, therefore, very important to seek legal advice as soon as you realise that you have been harmed by the negligence of another party. If you do unfortunately, miss the deadline set by the Court, it may still be possible to make your personal injury compensation claim although this will be more difficult.
