Government Plans to Ban Wheel Clamping on Private Land
The coalition government has announced plans to ban wheel clampers from operating on private land. The plans were announced by Lynne Featherstone, the Home Office minister who said that the proposals would be included in the Freedom Bill due to be introduced in November.
The idea of the ban is the stop rogue operators on private land from wheel clamping and removing cars without permission in England and Wales. Landowners will instead be encouraged to erect barriers or use ticketing. Any restrictions would not apply to the police.
We will provide further detail when the new legislation is introduced.
