4th October 2007
In response to recent survey findings, Acas has launched a new free e-learning course on their website to tackle age discrimination in the workplace.
The survey* found that only 17 per cent of employers had changed their employment and recruitment practices since the introduction of the legislation a year ago.
It also showed that of the one in 10 small to medium-sized enterprises that had previously treated people differently on the basis of age, none had not made any changes since October 2006.
The new course:
• defines age discrimination
• explains the legal aspects of the age discrimination regulations
• explains how the regulations affect recruitment and existing employees
• explains the exceptions and exemptions
• describes the process for enabling a fair retirement.
