T&N claimants vote for asbestos scheme

Asbestos victims to receive compensation in 2007

Responding to the announcement that asbestos victims have voted overwhelmingly for the Turner and Newall scheme proposed by the administrators of the company, Ian McFall, head of asbestos litigation for Thompsons Solicitors in Newcastle said:

This is the end of a long and difficult road for claimants who have had five years of stalemate and inertia. It is the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. While it is unlikely that any claimant will receive full compensation, it nevertheless brings to an end the uncertainty for many families.

We expect first payments to start in early 2007 and to continue throughout the year.
