Janet Allan from Thompsons Solicitors has been appointed to the Law Society's Clinical Negligence Panel

Improvements to clinical negligence service nationwide

Thompsons Solicitors has strengthened its clinical negligence team after partner Janet Allan was appointed to the Law Society clinical negligence panel.

Janet Allan will head up Thompsons Solicitors’ North East clinical negligence team and will provide advice and support to clients with claims arising from medical or dental negligence matters.

The appointment comes as Thompsons Solictors, whose Newcastle office is based in St Nicholas Street, Newcastle, announces plans nationally to strengthen its service to clients with clinical negligence claims.

The firm has introduced a new service to help people fund their claims. In certain cases Thompsons will pay for the fee to access medical records where the client is not entitled to legal aid.

The forwarding thinking approach will break down the barriers for clients who are put off making a claim because they cannot afford the initial costs needed before the strength of the case can be determined.

Mrs Allan joined Thompsons’ in 1983 following her training at Archers in Teesside and Clarke Willmotts. She is already a member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel.

She said the company’s new strategy in dealing with Clinical Negligence cases combined with her new status is a recipe for success.

She said: “Thompsons are well known for their high level of service and expertise in dealing with personal injury cases. We wanted to bring that recognised level of service and ethos to Clinical Negligence cases. With the panel’s stamp of approval we can now offer a service that is second to none.”
