Family’s search for boiler fitter’s former workmates

Did you work with John Albrow during the 1950's and 1960's?

The daughter of an asbestos victim is urging his former work colleagues to come forward with information about his working conditions.

John Albrow, 78, from Milton Keynes, died from mesothelioma, an asbestos related lung cancer, in January 2009.

The former boiler fitter worked for British Gas in Camden Town, Lyons in Kentish Town and for G R Everson and Son Limited in Edgware during 1950s and 1960s.

Diagnosed with Mesothelioma

John, who used to live in Kentish Town before moving to Milton Keynes five years ago, was diagnosed with mesothelioma just a few weeks before his death.

Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos and there is no cure for the disease. Many sufferers die within months of diagnosis.

As a boiler fitter John worked in and around boilers and pipework which were covered with asbestos insulation.

He had four children and eight grandchildren and was married for 56 years to his childhood sweetheart Ida.

Thompsons Solicitors are pursuing compensation for his family

John’s family have instructed asbestos claims experts Thompsons Solicitors to pursue compensation.

His daughter Jane said: “My parents moved to Milton Keynes five years ago to be closer to their grandchildren. They planned to enjoy their retirement together but those years have sadly been cut short. It is heartbreaking to think I would still have my wonderful Dad until this horrible disease took hold. Our only consolation is that he was able to spend Christmas at home with his loved ones around him instead of in hospital.

“It is important to the whole family that we are able to trace the people who worked alongside him to find out more about his working conditions.”

Did you work with John at British Gas in Camden Town from 1954 to 1960, G R Everson and Son Limited from 1963 to 1966 in Edgware or at Lyons in Kentish Town during the 1950s?

The family wish anyone who worked with John at any time to come forward to speak to Thompsons. They are interested information about the working environment during the time he was working for British Gas in Camden Town from 1954 to 1960, G R Everson and Son Limited from 1963 to 1966 in Edgware and for Lyons in Kentish Town during the 1950s.

Neil Baines of Thompsons Solicitors said: “It is important we build up an accurate picture of Mr Albrow’s working history including his time at British Gas in Camden, Lyons in Kentish Town and G R Everson and Sons Limited in Edgware. He worked as a boiler fitter with all these employers during the 1950s and 1960s. We would like to speak to anyone who worked with those employers during that time frame so we can establish a clear picture of the conditions he worked in.”

Anybody with any information should contact Neil Baines on 08000 224 224 or email enquiries@thompsons.law.co.uk.
