Family’s search for information on Tower Brewery

Did you work with Norman Taylor from Grimsby?

The family of a former brewery worker who died after being diagnosed with an asbestos related disease are trying to discover more about his working life.

Norman Taylor, aged 78, suffered from the debilitating condition asbestosis when he died in November 2005.

Norman from Grimsby was diagnosed just months before he died with the condition which left him breathless and struggling to care for his wife who has Huntingdon Disease.

Asbestosis normally affects people who have been exposed to a lot of asbestos over a long period of time. It also greatly increases the risk of lung cancer and the fatal asbestos tumour, mesothelioma.

Did you work at Tower Brwery in Grimsby between 1948 and 1981?

It is believed Norman was exposed to asbestos when working as a plumber for Tower Brewery in Grimsby between 1948 to 1981. The Brewery is now owned by Coors North Limited.

His son, Paul Keyworth, instructed asbestos claims experts Thompsons Solicitors for advice.

The Taylor family would like anyone who remembers Norman or who worked with him at Tower Brewery and is familiar with the conditions at the site between 1948 to 1981 to come forward with information.

Paul said: “My dad was a proud man who worked hard to care for my mother and to look after her at home. It was devastating to him that he became so ill through asbestosis that he could no longer look after her or the house and garden.

“It is important to us to find out more about how he was exposed to asbestos.”

Helen Tomlin of Thompsons Solicitors, added: “It is important to Mr Taylor’s family that anyone who knows more about the working conditions and presence of asbestos at Tower Brewery comes forward to help.
