Widow’s search for husband’s work colleagues
Did you work with Samuel Catlow?
The family of a cancer victim are urging his former colleagues to help them with information about his working conditions.
Samuel Catlow died aged 79 in 2006 of the asbestos related cancer mesothelioma.
He had worked with various sheet metal fabrication companies in the south Manchester area but lost contact with his work colleagues when the family moved to Wales and then Runcorn, Cheshire.
Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos. Many sufferers were exposed to the dust in the workplace.
Muriel Catlow, who has three adult children, instructed asbestos claims experts Thompsons Solicitors for advice about claiming compensation.
Andrew Sheet Metal Workers, Frank Shepley Engineers or C Catterall Engineers
Samuel worked as an apprentice for the Andrew Sheet Metal Workers Limited on New Zealand Road, Stockport between 1942 and 1952.
He also worked for Frank Shepley (Engineers) Limited in Crook Street, Hyde, Cheshire from 1952 to 1970 and then again from 1972 to 1978.
From 1970 to 1972 he worked for C Catterall (Engineers) Limited in Mosley near Staleybridge in Lancashire.
Thompsons wish to speak to any of Samuel’s former colleagues who he worked with at Andrew Sheet Metal Workers, Frank Shepley Engineers or C Catterall Engineers. They are interested in any information about the working environment during the time he was employed at the sites.
Mesothelioma caused by exposure to asbestos
Samuel’s widow Muriel said: “The family only discovered Samuel’s cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos following his death. He worked in a number of places where he would have been exposed to the dust which ultimately killed him. It is important to us to find out more information about this.
“We would urge anyone who remembers working with my husband to come forward to help us find out more about his working life.”
Diana Fos of Thompsons Solicitors, added: “Mesothelioma is a devastating disease caused only by exposure to asbestos.
“It is important that we trace Samuel Catlow’s former workmates so we can build up an accurate description of his working conditions. We want to establish which employers were responsible for his exposure to asbestos.”
Anyone who has any information should contact Diana Fos on 08000 224 224.
