Double appointment for serious injuries unit

Serious Injury Units in Newcastle and Middlesbrough

Thompsons Solicitors has expanded its serious injuries unit in the North East with two new appointments.

Paul Brown and David Robinson have joined the specialist team at Thompsons’ Newcastle and Middlesbrough offices respectively.

They bring added expertise to the serious injuries unit which specialises in dealing with personal injury claims involving brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, serious burns, amputations and other catastrophic injuries.

Brain and Spinal Injury Cases

Paul, 33, from Prudhoe, joins Thompsons from Irwin Mitchell in Newcastle where he spent four and a half years dealing with brain and spinal injury cases.

Previously he worked for Paul Dodds Solicitors in Wallsend and Peter Dunn and Co in Sunderland after completing his studies at Northumbria University.

Paul, originally from Washington, said: "I have long respected Thompsons Solicitors’ work and I look forward to working in this team to provide expertise to our clients, many of whom have been in catastrophic life changing accidents. With our help we hope to be able to obtain urgent access to compensation which can go a long way to helping them obtain the care, accommodation, treatment and support that they need to adapt to life following their injuries."

The serious injuries unit is challenging work

David, 24, originally from Middlesbrough has returned to the North East after working for Manchester-based Pannones for two years.

He said: "It is a pleasure to return to my home town and to be working for Thompsons Solicitors. The serious injuries unit is challenging work but it is also extremely fulfilling to help those who have been involved in terrible accidents achieve justice."

Paul and David have joined existing members of the Serious Injuries Unit Mick Laffey in Thompsons' South Shields office and team head Andrew McDonald in the Middlesbrough office.

Many years of specialist personal injury claims experience

The North East serious injuries unit has already dealt with a number of high profile cases including the case of Mark Cook who sustained a spinal cord injury in a road traffic accident.

Andrew McDonald said: "Thompsons has a solid reputation for successfully representing clients who have suffered catastrophic accidents. With the expansion of our dedicated team we can provide our clients with added expertise within our centre of excellence.

"Both Paul and David have many years of specialist personal injury claims experience. They understand how complicated serious injury claims can be, but also understand how traumatic it can be for the client and will ensure to deliver a service which is sympathetic, sensitive and respectful."
