Gillian, 34, from Gosforth joined Thompsons, at their Newcastle office, based in St Nicholas Street, in January as a senior executive.
Gillian studied law at Bristol University and carried out her training at Dickinson Dees in Newcastle in the personal injury and clinical negligence departments.
She has joined Thompsons from Samuel Phillips Law Firm, based on Westgate Road, where she was head of their clinical negligence department.
Gillian is a member of the Law Society’s prestigious Clinical Negligence Panel, a nationally recognised body that gives a stamp of approval to lawyers who have been rigorously and independently assessed.
Her appointment comes just a few months after Thompsons announced plans nationally to strengthen its service to clients with clinical negligence claims.
The firm has introduced a new service to help people fund their claims. In certain cases Thompsons will pay for the fee to access medical records where the client is not entitled to legal aid.
The forwarding thinking approach will break down the barriers for clients who are put off making a claim because they cannot afford the initial costs needed before the strength of the case can be determined.
Gillian said: “It is very exciting to join a national firm with a strong reputation in personal injury and clinical negligence where the focus is on the individual.”
Janet Allan, partner at Thompsons and head of clinical negligence for the firm in the North East added: “We are delighted that someone with Gillian’s expertise has joined our team. Her strengths will help Thompsons to deliver a high class service to its clients.”
Gillian, has a 16-month-old daughter called Laura and lives with her husband Tim Hodgson, a radiographer at North Tyneside Hospital.
