Mesothelioma Compensation

Lorna's client in this case was the widow of a man who died of mesothelioma.  He was only in his 60's when he was diagnosed with the terminal condition and died shortly afterwards.

He had been negligently exposed to asbestos decades earlier by a former employer.  He was a trainee coppersmith when he was exposed to the asbestos and only did the job for a couple of years but that was enough to cause the fatal illness.

Lorna secured almost quarter of a million pounds compensation for the man's widow. Part of the compensation was for the hospice which helped her husband towards the end of his life.

Asbestosis Compensation

In this case, Lorna's client was a man who worked for British Rail his whole working life after completing National Service.  He never worked directly with asbestos but was exposed to it by colleagues working in the same area such as laggers.  There were also pipes covered with damaged asbestos in the working area and open sacks filled with asbestos which would get caught by the wind causing asbestos fibres to blow around.

Decades later he developed shortness of breath and breathing problems.  Tests were carried out and he was diagnosed with asbestosis.

Lorna made a personal injury claim for compensation against the insurers of British Rail and recovered £80,000 compensation for the injured man.
