Successful Asbestos Claims

Below, you will find just a small selection of some of the asbestos compensation claims Steven has dealt with in the Manchester office.

Mesothelioma Compensation

Steven's client in this case was a man who was diagnosed with mesothelioma and contacted Thompsons for help making a claim.  He had worked for a company 60 years earlier where he had been negligently exposed to asbestos without any protection.  He worked in areas where asbestos was being pressed and ground and he inhaled vast amounts of asbestos dust.

The former employers were no longer trading but Steven tracked down a successor company and recovered £150,000 compensation for the man in a very short time.  His client was then able to enjoy the time he had left with his family knowing that they would be financially secure after his death.

Pleural Thickening Compensation

In this case Steven's client was a man in his 60's who was diagnosed with pleural thickening.  The illness made him very breathless and he struggled with tasks like gardening or climbing stairs.  He also had to give up his job and was virtually housebound.

He had been negligently exposed to asbestos by an employer 20 years prior to developing any symptoms.  He had worked for a chemical manufacturer and had to remove asbestos lagging from pipes in his workplace while performing maintenance without any protection or warnings of danger.

Steven recovered a sum of compensation for the man and also set in place a provision that he could claim again if he went on to suffer serious deterioration or developed another asbestos related disease.
