Asthma Compensation Claim
In this case Gillian's client was a man who lived in a block of council flats. He was an asthma sufferer but his condition was well controlled until the local authority treated the communal areas of the block of flats with a strong chemical. The chemical aggravated the tenant's condition causing health problems which could have been avoided.
The council denied liability and refused to admit that the chemical had been left in the block of flats so Gillian had to negotiate hard and provide evidence in her client's favour. She was successful in this case and recovered public liability compensation for her client.
Accident at School Compensation Claim
Gillian's client in this case was a child who was injured whilst at school. A teacher in charge of an athletics lesson had known about the school field having an uneven surface but had not noticed a hole was also present.
The client caught her foot in the hole and she tripped and fell, breaking her wrist.
Gillian made a personal injury claim against the council who were responsible for the condition of the school field. They admitted liability and paid compensation to the injured child.
