Successful Personal Injury Claims

Below, you will find just a small selection of some of the personal injury compensation claims David has dealt with in the South Shields office.

Industrial Dermatitis Claim

In this case, David's client was a sheet metal worker who was exposed to dangerous substances including lubricants at work.  He was not provided with any gloves to protect him from the dangerous substances and was never told of the dangers they posed.

When he first started developing problems with the skin on his hands, he visited his GP and was diagnosed with eczema and prescribed with cream to use.  At this point his employers also provided him with cotton gloves which provided some protection but still had to be changed several times each day when the oil seeped through them.

David's client's condition worsened and his hands were very flaky and itchy.  The condition prevented him from making a fist and he eventually saw a dermatologist who diagnosed him with occupational dermatitis.  

David made a claim against his client's employer on the grounds that they had failed to supply suitable protective equipment (in this case gloves).  They initially denied liability but shortly after David issued proceedings they settled the claim for compensation.

Vibration White Finger Claim

David's client in this case had worked as a gardener most of his life and had used various vibrating tools such as mowers, strimmers and hedge cutters.  Until the later years of his employment he was never given any advice about the dangers of vibrating tools or advice about how to limit his exposure to them such as job rotation.

David's client developed Vibration White Finger and David made a claim for damages against his employers.

The employers initially denied liability for the industrial disease but when David issued proceedings, they accepted liability and paid compensation to David's client.

Attacked at Work

In this case, David's client was a nurse who was assaulted at work by a patient.  The patient had a known history of violence and although the client had expressed her concerns about the patient no action was taken.

The violent patient assaulted David's client and knocked her to the ground causing injuries.

David made a claim against the hospital and recovered compensation for the injured nurse.
