Manual Handling Injury
Donna's client in this case was a man injured at work. He was working alone in what was normally a two-person job when a conveyor belt became jammed because of another member of staff placing too many items on it.
As Donna's client tried to manually manoeuvre the items he injured his back and shoulder. Several similar incidents had happened in the past and it was a well known fact that the conveyor belt became jammed when overloaded.

Back Injury
In this case, Donna's client was a woman who was injured at work. Her job involved her carrying around bags and other equipment while she visited clients and other offices. She had not received any lifting and handling training and as a result developed a back injury.
On the day of her accident she was visiting another office where the only chair available to her was damaged. As she went to sit on it, it rolled back and she fell on the floor, aggravating her existing back condition.
Although the woman's employers accepted liability for the accident Donna had to fight hard to recover a fair amount of compensation.
