Family search for information from gas board worker’s former colleagues
Did you work with Colin Lee in St Albans?
The family of a former St Albans gas works’ employee is urging his former work colleagues to come forward to help them find out more about his exposure to asbestos.
Colin Lee, was 74-years-old when died of the cancer of the lining of the lungs, mesothelioma in June 2010, just eight months after being diagnosed with the devastating disease.
Mr Lee, who lived in North Shields before his death, but spent many years living in St Albans left behind his wife, Sheila, three children, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was already very ill when he was diagnosed with the disease in November 2009 and his condition deteriorated quickly.
After his death Mrs Lee instructed asbestos claims experts Thompsons Solicitors to investigate the case against her husband’s former employers.
Eastern Gas Board in St Albans during 1961 and 1962
The family would like to hear from anyone who worked with Mr Lee at Eastern Gas Board in St Albans during 1961 and 1962. Mr Lee worked in the boiler house for a period of six months.
Thompsons are interested in talking to anyone who worked at the St Albans gas board site during 1961 and 1962 who can provide information about the conditions.
Mrs Lee said: “When Colin was first diagnosed with mesothelioma he was too ill to talk about where he was exposed to asbestos. But it was clear that one of the places he may have been exposed was at the gas board.
“We’d like to hear from anyone who remembers working alongside him or was employed by Eastern Gas at St Albans in the 1960’s.”
Information needed about asbestos exposure
Tony Hood at Thompsons Solicitors added: “Mr Lee was extremely ill when he was diagnosed with mesothelioma and was unable to give his family a full picture of how he was exposed to asbestos.
“It is important that anyone who worked at the Eastern Gas Board in St Albans during 1961 and 1962 comes forward with information about how he was exposed to asbestos to help his devastated family.”
